Gary W Sweeney Dip BS MRICS

Gary graduated from Glasgow College of Building and Printing in 1988 and proceeded to obtain a wide range of experience in professional offices in both England and Scotland before qualifying as an Associate of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in December 1990.

Gary set up Bluestone in 2003 following a period as Partner within the Glasgow office of Watts and Partners.

Since qualification, Gary has developed his experience in all aspects of building surveying including industrial, commercial and residential building consultancy, acquisition and condition surveys, planned maintenance and life cycle costing, fire insurance valuations, strategic construction advice to banks and receivers and both schedules of condition and dilapidations.

Gary has considerable experience at a senior level in Project Management, Employers Agent and Contract Administration roles. He has been responsible for programming, design, specification, implementation and the administration of significant demolition, reinstatement, refurbishment and fitting out contracts together with a variety of new build projects.

Gary’s experience in maintenance strategies and life cycle costing has included assisting a number of independent Housing Associations. Commissions have included the use of Psion ‘Workabout’ computers for which the survey form was designed and programmed by Gary. A number of the commissions also included the development of maintenance databases for use by the respective Housing Associations with Gary appointing, briefing and liaising closely with the IT Consultant to develop the database to meet the specific requirements of the client.

Currently Gary’s workload includes acting as the regional Contract Manager for Central Government housing contracts.
